This Could Be the Reason Apple Killed AirPower

Last Friday, Apple finally announced the death of AirPower. The wireless charger never really saw the light of the day and after a delay of a couple of years, Apple decided it was best to cancel the product altogether. The company’s announcement, however, was light on details as to why it was killing the charger except for saying that it did not meet its “high standards.”

So what exactly forced Apple to cancel AirPower? Signs up to iOS 12.2 beta pointed to AirPower launch well and truly being imminent so why the last minute change? As iFixit explains, the reason behind AirPower not performing up to Apple’s high standards could be due to overheating and interference due to its 8-7-7 coil placement.

Every coil inside a wireless charger creates an electromagnetic field. This field is what allows your phone to charge wirelessly as the charging coil inside it is able to induce electricity in the coil. The problem is that every coil generates some kind of noise and interference. Usually, wireless chargers come with 3 or 5 coils and thus interference and noise from them can be easily managed.

Noise from a single coil might not be a problem, but each charging coil generates a slightly different waveform. When those waves overlap, the constructive interference intensifies their strength. Just like when two ocean waves collide and combine their height, radio frequencies can combine their intensity as they interact.

This can have some serious repercussions and can be life threating in some instances as well.

“Over time, these harmonics add up and they become really powerful signals in the air,” explains William Lumpkins, VP of Engineering at O & S Services. “And that can be difficult—that can stop someone’s pacemaker if it’s too high of a level. Or it could short circuit someone’s hearing aid.” If Apple’s multi-coil layout was spinning off harmonics left and right, it’s possible AirPower couldn’t pass muster with US or EU regulations.

With Apple planning on using an 8-7-7 coil setup inside AirPower, it is not surprising that the company ended up facing overheating and interference issues on AirPower. Apple went with the 8-7-7 setup since it wanted to create a wireless charger where one could place their device anywhere on the pad and it would start charging itself. That’s not possible with other wireless chargers in the market right now. If the device or phone does not align perfectly with the coil inside the wireless charger, the device would not start charging.

It is likely that Apple got the AirPower to work in its labs and only, later on, realized that it was not meeting the FCC guidelines for Electro-Magnetic Interference of FCC. By then, it was too late for the company to make any more changes to the AirPower to workaround the problem and thus it decided to scrap AirPower altogether.

The 8-7-7 coil setup also meant that Apple was pumping too much power into a very small area to generate a wide enough charging field which in turn caused overheating issues.
We Want to Hear From You

What do you think about the above analogy? It definitely makes the most sense to me. If the 8-7-7 coil setup would have been possible, other accessory makers would have pulled it off by now but that has not happened yet. Do you think we are going to see Apple announce a new AirPower alternative later this year alongside the iPhone 11? Drop a comment and let us know!

3 Ways To Run Android Apps On Windows 2019

Interested in Android? You don’t have to buy a device or go to a physical electronics store (do those still exist?) to try it out. You can run individual Android apps and play with the latest versions of the Android operating system on Windows. These are Android emulators for PCs.

Whether you want to try Android before you buy, experiment with the latest version of Android or sync apps between your Android device and your PC, these Windows programs have you covered.

Latest News: Everything About Android 10 Q – Release Date, Name, and Features
BlueStacks

BlueStacks doesn’t replicate the full Android experience, it’s just an “app player” that runs individual apps on your PC. BlueStacks starts in full-screen mode, but can also be used in windowed mode.

Install BlueStacks, search for an Android app, and you’ll be able to install it on your PC.

You’ll have to set up a Google account to download apps via Google Play, but you can always make a new Google account just for this purpose. BlueStacks also supports other app stores, including the Amazon Appstore for Android. Its built-in search feature searches for apps across all the app stores it supports.

If you have a Windows 8 touch PC, you can interact with Android apps like Modern apps and use BlueStacks to play Android games on Windows 8. Many apps use a swipe action — to perform a swipe, click and hold the mouse button down, move the mouse cursor, and then release.

BlueStacks also works with your Android phone or tablet if you already have one. You can install the BlueStacks Cloud Connect app, available in the Google Play, to synchronize apps between your device and your PC.

YouWave or VirtualBox

YouWave provides a free ten-day trial, which is more than enough time to get a feel for Android apps. Unlike BlueStacks, YouWave offers a full Android system with a home screen, app menu, and everything else.

This program depends on its own instance of VirtualBox, so you can’t use it if you have VirtualBox installed — you’ll have to uninstall VirtualBox first.

If you’d rather install Android in VirtualBox on your own, you can find instructions for doing so on the Android x86 page. It’s a bit more work, but it’s completely free with no time limits.

YouWave doesn’t include many apps, but you can install Google Play inside it to get more apps. Click the View menu, select Online Content, and click the Google Play icon to download it. Click the View menu again, select Apps, and click the Google Play app — Google Play will be installed.

You can launch Google Play within the Android emulator to browse and install Android apps. You’ll need a Google account, but you can always create a new one specifically for YouWave.

Official Android Emulator

Google’s Android software development kit provides a free Android emulator, although it’s targeted at developers. You can run the latest version of Android with this method, so it’s a great way to try out the latest version of Android if you have a device that’s stuck on an older version.

First, you’ll need Java installed. You can then download the SDK Tools from Google. Click the Use an Existing IDE option on the page and download the SDK Tools package. After installing it, launch the SDK Manager and install the recommended files for the latest version of Android. Click the Install button and the SDK manager will automatically download and install the required software. Also Read:4 Best iOS Cleaner Apps to Clear Junk on iPhone/iPad in 2019

Click the Tools menu once the download has finished, select Manage AVDs and click the New button to create a new virtual device. Select a device — an older device like the Nexus S should be easier to emulate – and your installed version of Android. Name the virtual device and click OK to create it.

You’ll see your new virtual device in the virtual device manager window. Select it, click the Start button and click Launch to launch the Android emulator. It may take a while to start — perhaps over a minute, depending on your hardware.

Google’s Android emulator for PC definitely doesn’t perform as well as BlueStacks or YouWave. It also doesn’t have Google Play or any other app store integrated, but you can download app files in APK form and install them.

Tips: Lost data from your phone? Want to get them back but no backup? Please try Gihosoft Free Android Data Recovery Software, which can help you recover multiple files, such as contacts, messages, photos, videos, etc from your Android phone with original quality guaranteed.
Conclusion

Android’s openness allows developers to create applications like these, which is awesome — no similar solutions are available if you want to try out iPhone or iPod apps on Windows. Still, there are some limitations — performance isn’t as good as it is on real hardware, for one.

Remember that Android wasn’t designed for the mouse. Android devices support mice and keyboards, but they’re really designed for touch. It’s like using Modern Windows 8 apps with a mouse — Microsoft has said they’re “touch first” and they certainly feel like it.

However, you may even be able to install Android on an old netbook you have lying around — it’s worth a try if you aren’t getting much use out of that netbook anyway.

Have you tried running Android emulators for your PC? Which app worked best for you? Leave a comment and let us know!

Solutions to Unlock iPhone with Broken Screen 2019

Solutions to Unlock iPhone with Broken Screen
1.Using iTunes Restoring

If you have synchronized your iPhone with iTunes on a computer, iTunes backup can be used to restore your iPhone. This way is available only when entering password is not required during the process.

Step 1: Connect your device to a computer and load iTunes.

Step 2: Click on the ‘Summary’ button at the top of the iTunes page.

Step 3: Click the option to “Check for Update” and see if there is something new available.

Step 4: Click on the “Restore” option and go through the process.

Step 5: Restore from iTunes backup.

2.Using iCloud Find My Phone

You can use iCloud and the “Find My Phone” feature to unlock your broken screen iPhone with the most recent backup, so hopefully you’ve been backing up frequently.

Step 1: Connect your device to a computer and sign in to your iCloud account.

Step 2: Click the “Find my iPhone” button and then choose “All Devices”.

Step 3: Now click on “Erase iPhone” to get rid of everything including password.

Step 4: Now restore your device from a backup on iCloud and you’ll have your stuff back.
3. Using Siri to Help You Get into Your Device

Siri feature can also be used to fix the problem of iPhone screen cracked cant unlock. It was marked “Helpful” by Apple, so why not have a try?

Step 1: Connect to Siri by pressing and holding the “Home” button.

Step 2: Tell Siri to “Turn on VoiceOver” which allows you to have a different kind of access to your iPhone with cracked screen.

Step 3: Hit the “Home” button again to turn off Siri and open the unlock screen again.

Step 4: Swipe in either direction to select the “Slide to Unlock” button and double click.

Step 5: When the passcode page opens, swipe to the sides until the right number is highlighted and then double click to choose it. Do this one at a time.

Step 6: Once you’re done, swipe until you select the “Enter” button and then double click again.
Conclusion

No matter what kind of problems you might have had with your device or what might have happened to the screen, you definitely don’t want to lose access to your device. The great thing is that a couple of these options (using Siri and iTunes restoring) actually don’t delete the information that you had on the device either. Even the other two solutions may cause data loss, there is no need to worry about it if you’ve been backing up frequently. Please always remember to back up your data and make sure you synchronize your device with iTunes and iCloud, as both are going to make it easier for you to fix iPhone screen cracked cant unlock.

5 Awesome Android Q Hidden Features 2019

5 Awesome Android Q Hidden Features 2019

Google has introduced us to its latest flavor of Android, which will be known as Android Q until the tech giant picks a dessert starting with the said letter. This is a major update for Android from Google’s perspective as it focuses on refining the Pie experience while laying more focus on user privacy and security.

This time around as well Google has baked a number of feature flags in Android Q to give users access to features that are currently under development. Well, we have been toying around with the flags for a while now and here are all the hidden features we found to be really interesting:

In case you need: 3 Methods to Upgrade Android OS Version to Android Q
Android Q Hidden Features

Note: We tested out all these features on the Pixel 2, running Android 10 Q Beta 1 (build number QPP1.190205.018.B4)
1. Native Screen Recorder

We’ve been begging Google to give us a screen recording feature for ages, and while the company has worked on in the past, this is the first time you can actually try it out. Yeah, screen recording isn’t enabled by default but Android Q allows you to record your screen simply by flipping the switch on a feature flag in the developer options setting page.

If you want to try out the screen recording feature on your Pixel, you can check out our guide to enable screen recording in Android Q.
2. Seamless Transfer

As compared to Android 9 Pie, Google has now made double the number of feature flags available in Android Q and one of them is the super handy ‘seamless transfer’ feature. It adds a musical note icon to the notification of whatever app is playing music. Tapping on this icon opens up a pop-up at the bottom and lets you switch between audio output sources on the fly.

This feature could be really useful when you’re listening to a track and want to extend a taste of it to your friend as well, so you can switch to the speakers using this feature. It simply requires you to toggle the ‘settings_seamless_transfer’ feature flag in the developer options menu.
3. Force Desktop Mode

Move aside, Samsung DeX. Android is finally getting ready to embrace the PC experience life with Android Q and for the first time introduces an option to switch to a ‘desktop mode’ in the developer settings. This means you may soon be able to turn your phone into a PC and enjoy a wholesome experience – free from the tragedy that’s folding phones.

This is how Android Q’s Desktop Mode looks right now

You will find the ‘force desktop mode’ toggle buried in the developer options, however, it doesn’t work in its current state.
4. Freeform Windows

Android first introduced freeform window mode with Nougat back in 2017. It was hidden away and you need adb to use the feature, but Android Q now has a dedicated developer option to enable the same. It works quite well (on the Pixel 3 XL and not the Pixel 2) but you can currently have ‘only’ a single freeform window open on your homescreen. Opening another freeform window closes the one that’s already open and takes its place.

Freeform windows will be pretty useful in the desktop mode, so if you wanna enable the same – you just need to look for the “Enable freeform windows” option under the ‘Apps’ section in the developer options menu.
5. Dark Mode

One of the most exciting and my favorite features of Android Q is the system-wide dark theme. It’s not enabled by default, nor is there any dedicated option to enable the same in the settings. Any mention of the dark mode has been removed from this Android version because Google wants to boast about on stage at I/O 2019.

However, there are a couple of ways (one really simple and other a little tricky) to enable the dark theme and see how your device would look. And I bet you, it looks awesome but Google still needs to iron out some kinks and streamline their utilisation. We have a dedicated article on how to enable dark mode in Android Q that you can check out.

Tip: Lost data from your Android phone memory or SD Card?

Want to quickly get them back but no backup?

Do not worry! Let Gihosoft Free Android Data Recovery Software help you out!

These are Features We’re Really Excited For

While there a bunch of other interesting feature flags available in the developer options setting menu, like safety hub and dynamic homepage, but it’s just the aforementioned ones that we’ve managed to spot and get working. All of these features are pretty cool, which is the reason I would love for Google to work rigorously and flesh them out.

Which of these features are you most excited about? Have you stumbled on any hidden features that you think should be on this list? Let us know in the comments below.

How to Enable Dark Mode in Chrome on Mac

How to Enable Dark Mode in Chrome on Mac

With the latest Google Chrome release, Google has introduced a Dark mode to its web browser on macOS Mojave. Ever since Apple released macOS Mojave with a dark mode last year, we have seen plenty of apps updated with a native dark mode and Google is also finally jumping on that bandwagon.

If you use Google Chrome on your Mac and are wondering how to enable the Dark mode, follow the steps below.
Enable Dark Mode in Chrome on Mac

Step 1: The first thing you need to do is ensure that you are running the latest v73 of Google Chrome. While Chrome does automatically update itself in the background, it can take its own sweet time to do so.

Head over to Chrome -> About Google Chrome. This should open the About Chrome page where it will display the current version of the browser you are running and automatically check for an update as well. If you are running an older version of the browser, it will automatically download and install it and display a message to restart Chrome for the changes to take effect.

Step 2: With Chrome updated to v73, simply head over to System Preferences -> General and switch to the Dark theme from Appearance. That should lead to macOS Mojave itself switching to a dark theme which will also lead Google Chrome to switch to dark mode.

At the moment, there’s no way to use Google Chrome with the dark theme without switching macOS Mojave to dark mode as well.

Are you liking Dark mode in Chrome? Or do you think it could have been implemented better? Drop a comment and let us know! Also Read:jihosoft Free iPhone Data Recovery
